Dr. Julia Steets is associate director of the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi), an independent think tank in Berlin. Together with her colleague Andrea Binder, she leads GPPi’s research and consulting activities in the area of humanitarian assistance. Over the past years, she has led several large-scale evaluations of humanitarian action, including the second phase of the evaluation of the cluster approach. She has also headed multi-year research projects, including on transatlantic approaches to humanitarian assistance, as well as food assistance. Prior to GPPi, Julia has worked for the Körber Foundation and Transparency International and has taught at the universities of Bonn, Greifswald and Berlin.
