Dr. Selman Salim Kesgin is a humanitarian and philanthropy consultant with over a decade of experience spanning research, policy, and practice across Türkiye, Europe, and the Middle East. He serves as an Assistant Professor at the Zakat Foundation Institute. He is also a board member of the IHSA, where he contributes to academic exchange and policy dialogue on humanitarian action.
Dr. Kesgin’s work focuses on migration, humanitarian policy, disaster management, volunteering, advocacy, and Muslim philanthropy, with particular interest in localization and community resilience. He has held roles in research, policy, and advocacy, and has collaborated with international organizations, civil society actors, and academic institutions in different contexts.
His work aims to connect research with practice, supporting capacity strengthening, strategic reflection, and programme design in ways that are responsive to local needs and realities.
